How to Hang a Dart Board Cabinet

When you purchase a high-quality dart board, you'll want to be sure to mount it properly to avoid mishaps that can result in damage. For the best way to hang a dart board cabinet, follow these simple steps:

  1. Locate: Give yourself about eight feet of clearance between you and the board to ensure that you have enough room to throw. Be sure to avoid hanging your cabinet near fragile or valuable items that may be caught in the crossfire.

  2. Measure: Open the cabinet doors to measure the full width of the case. Per regulation standards, calculate a height of 5 feet 8 inches from the floor and center your bullseye in this spot — or you can simply place the dart board at eye level.

  3. Mark: Locate and mark the studs behind your walls and choose two of them to support your cabinet. If you can't find your studs, you can use wall anchors instead.

  4. Level: Place your cabinet over the studs, center the bullseye and use a pencil to mark where you'll screw in the structure. Then, use a level to ensure that the board hangs straight.

  5. Mount: Drill one hole in each corner of your cabinet at no more than 16 inches apart, then screw the case into the wall with a cordless drill. Be sure to use standard 5/32 inch screws for security.

  6. Adjust: Once you have the board mounted, step back and confirm that it's level and the bullseye is in the center. If not, remove the screws, readjust the cabinet and remount the board.

How to Play Darts for Beginners

Whether you're a darts novice or you simply need a refresher, it's always good to know the rules of the game. With a basic understanding of the board, you can play any of the dozens of darts games out there, such as 501 or the ever-popular Cricket.

The scoring system for darts is relatively simple. Your dart board is non-chronologically numbered from one to 20 around the outside of the board. When your dart hits one of the slices, you get the corresponding number of points. However, if the dart lands in the thin outer sections of the board, you get double the score. If the dart lands in the smallest inner sections, you get triple the score.

The bullseye also consists of an inner and outer circle. Hitting the inner section of the bullseye is worth 50 points, while the outer area is 25.
