product questions

pool tables

Question: What is the "standard" size for a pool table?

Answer: The overwhelming majority of pool tables in homes across America are 8' pool tables that feature a playfield of 88" x 44". Most coin-operated pool tables in bars or restaurants are 7' pool tables and most tournament sized pool tables are 9' pool tables. If you aren't sure about the size of a pool table, measure the size of the playfield, not the exterior dimensions. When measuring, measure from the tip of the cushion on the rail to the other side's respective cushion.

Question: Do I have enough space for a pool table?

Answer: For Detailed Information on Room Size Requirements for a Pool Table, click here

Question: Do the 3 markings or "sights" on the top of each pool table rail serve a purpose?

Answer: Yes, the 3 sights on each pool table aren't just for decoration, they serve an important purpose. They are reference points meant to help you measure the angles for your shots. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and HB Home designs each table with custom sights meant to fit the unique aesthetic of each design.

Question: Should I place a rug under my pool table?

Answer: A rug can be an excellent way to accent a pool table though it should be correctly sized to the room and allow for proper posture while playing the game.  Using a comfortable shooting posture, both feet should be completely on or completely off the rug.  An improperly sized rug can become a tripping hazard while a participant works their way around the table, which is no fun! We also recommend using a rug which features a non-skid backing for the same reasons.

Question: Are different felt options available for pool tables beyond what is shown on the image?

Answer: Yes, we are able to change felt colors for no additional charge. Please add a note when placing your order in the "Notes" section to let us know your preferred color of felt if it is different than what is shown on the images

Question: How do I brush my pool table felt?

Answer: For best results, periodically brush the felt on the pool table with our approved brushes from our accessory kits. It is best to brush the felt in one direction, which will keep the nap of the cloth uniform. Lint rollers can also be used for darker felt colors in the case of dust or pet hair. These practices will help maintain the quality of play on your pool table.

Question: What should I do if I spill on my pool table felt?

Answer: Prevention is key; you should avoid eating or drinking too close to your pool table. However, our pool tables include Teflon-coated spill-resistant felt so if a spill does occur, use a paper towel to absorb as much liquid as possible.

Question: Am I able to move my pool table myself?

Answer: No; pool tables cannot be moved within a room without losing their level playfield. If the table must be moved, whether that be across the room or to a new home, it should be disassembled by a professional technician who can do so safely and effectively, without damaging the pool table or endangering untrained individuals.

Question: If I want lighting above my pool table, how high should I hang it?

Answer: You should hang lighting between 32" and 36" above the surface of your pool table for optimal play

Question: I am moving and I would like to take my pool table with me to my new home. How can I do this? Can I do it myself or do I need help?

AnswerHB Home Pool Tables must be installed and disassembled by trained technicians. Our warranty becomes void without verification that the pool table was installed by such a technician. If you contact us, we would happily connect you with local technicians familiar with our pool tables who can assist you in either installing or disassembling the pool tables safely and effectively!

Question: Is this a slate table and how thick is the slate?

Answer: Yes we use professional slate that is 1” thick. The slate is also backed with a wood border to help quiet the play and provide a surface that enables us to secure the bed cloth permanently to the table for better play over the lifetime of the table.

Question: Is the slate one, large piece?

Answer: No, to enable better machining, handling and finally leveling of the table in your home, the slate surface is actually made of three separate pieces. Once the slate is secured to the table frame by the professional installer he will fill the seam of the three pieces to create one solid, uninterrupted play surface.

Question: What type of cushion rubber is used on HB Home Pool Tables?

Answer: HB Home uses authentic, K66 Cushion Rubber on each rail for a consistent, authentic, and even rebound

Question: How long does cushion rubber normally last?

Answer: HB Home uses all-natural, K66 cushion rubber on our table rails. Since our cushion rubber is all-natural and isn’t modified from its original state with any additives, it slowly hardens over time, which can negatively affect the game play of the pool table. Depending on the humidity as well as climate variations in your area, our cushion rubber typically lasts between 10-15 years through normal use before it becomes hard, at which point, it should be replaced. When this occurs, please contact us as we will issue free replacement cushion rubber with proof of original purchase. We can also connect you to a professional technician who can help replace the cushion rubber for you.

Question: Who is building my pool table?

Answer: HB Home has professional contractors throughout the USA that will perform your in-home installation.

Question: How long will it take your professionals to set up a pool table?

Answer: Typically pool table installations take between 1.5 to 3 hours, although times may vary based on the type of pool table being built as well as the speed of the installer

air hockey

Question: How big are air hockey tables?

Answer: A regulation-sized air hockey table is 8 feet in length and 6 feet in width. Most home tables, however, are not this large. The tables offered by HB Home are typically around 83” long and 43” wide, which makes them a better fit for homes.

Question: Does my air hockey table come pre-assembled?

Answer: The cabinets of our air hockey tables are pre-assembled. Minor assembly is otherwise required.

Question: Does my purchase include the pucks and mallets?

Answer: Yes, it comes with four pucks and four mallets (or goalies).

Question: How does an air hockey table work?

Answer: The surface of an air hockey table is peppered with thousands of tiny holes. Powerful fans inside the cabinet of the table blow air through these holes and create an “air cushion” under the puck. This makes the puck hover slightly in the air and allows it to glide with very little friction.

Question: What are the rules of air hockey?

Answer: The basic rules of air hockey are quite simple: Whoever scores the most goals within a set amount of time, or whoever scores an agreed-upon number of goals first, wins.

Question: How long does it take to assemble an air hockey table?

Answer: Typically, our air hockey tables can be assembled within 30-45 minutes with 2 adults

Question: Does my air hockey table come with a warranty?

Answer: HB Home warrants your game room furniture to be free of manufacturer defects in material and workmanship for as long as 1 year from the original delivery of the product.

Question: How do I maintain my air hockey table?

Answer: Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasives or household cleaners to preserve the finish.

foosball

Question: How big are foosball tables?

Answer: HB Home’s foosball tables are typically around 73” wide (including rods), 54.5” long, and 34” tall.

Question: Does my foosball table come pre-assembled?

Answer: The cabinets of our foosball tables are pre-assembled. Minor assembly is otherwise required.

Question: Does my purchase include the balls necessary?

Answer: Yes, your table comes with 4 balls. Additional balls can be purchased here

Question: Is spinning allowed in foosball?

Answer: No! Spinning is one of the most common fouls in foosball. Spinning is officially defined as spinning the rods in a 360-degree rotation without touching the ball.

Question: The players on this foosball table are counter-balanced; what does that mean?

Answer: This means that the players are built to be able to stay still in whatever position you place them in. When the opposing team has the ball, you’ll want your players down to create extra blocking ability while on offense, you’ll want the players up to give you more passing and shooting lanes. Counter-balanced players are nice and are found on higher-end models

Question: Where was foosball invented?

Answer: Foosball was invented in Madrid, Spain in 1937. Remarkably, this original version is almost identical to the game we know today.

Question: How long does it take to assemble a foosball table?

Answer: Typically, our foosball tables can be assembled within 45-60 minutes with 2 adults
